Internet access and free WiFi in Verona, Italy

Internet and Wifi in Verona

Internet access is fast becoming indispensable even when on holiday.
Many hotels and apartments now provide a WiFi facility.

We have broadband in our apartment, available for our guests, (though we cannot provide support if you don't manage to establish a connection).

Free WiFi

Verona town council kindly provides free WiFi hot spots for anybody, including tourists. They are in various parts of town such as:
- Piazza Bra
- Piazza Erbe
- Via Mazzini
- Civic Library, Via Capello
Look out for the WiFi signs as illustrated
To obtain access you just need to register (passport needed) and you will be given a card with a username and a password.
Two places where you can get the card are:
- the Biblioteca Civica, Via Capello 43 (temporary entrance in Vicolo San Sebastiano 3) open Monday 2pm till 7pm, Tuesday to Friday 9am - 7pm, Saturday 9am - 2pm
- Council offices (URP) in Via Adigetto 10 (near Piazza Bra) open Monday to Friday 9am - 1pm, plus Tuesday and Thursday 3pm - 5pm.

Internet Cafes

There are of course various internet 'cafes' or cybercafes. You will need to provide ID, so take your passport. Two that I occasionally use are:

FNAC: in Via Cappello 34. A big store for computer, photo, book, DVDs, cameras etc. They have an internet cafe at the far end of the store. €3/hour open 9.30 - 8pm .

Via Volto San Luca 18a (side street next to MacDonalds on Corso Porta Nuova). Cheap €1/hour. Open 9 - 10pm every day except Friday mornings. They also provide a telephone service.

Several internet cafes have closed recently, probably due to the introduction of Verona's free WiFi::
Veron@web - Via Roma: closed
Internet etc.- Via 4 Spade: closed
Cyberclub - Via S.Antonio: closed

Please let me know of any internet places you can recommend.
